John Kiely
A native resident of Carmel-by-The-Sea, accomplished sommelier, John Kiely cut his teeth working the floor at many of Monterey County’s most celebrated Wine Spectator Grand Award fine-dining restaurant(s). In a relatively short period of time, John has made waves as an outspoken industry progressive, spearheading his commitment to regenerative farming and transparent wine-making practices.
After an already promising career as a young wine and service professional, Mr. Kiely became the Wine Director/LeadSommelier at Aubergine Carmel & L’Auberge Carmel in 2018. While at the helm of all things beverage, Aubergine became the first Michelin Starred restaurant between San Francisco and Los Angeles. Under Chef Justin Cogley, (Charlie Trotter CDC alumni, 2015 James Beard Foundation nominated Best Chef West, 2013 Grand Chef Relais & Chateaux) John took advantage of the unique opportunity to dial in his already comprehensive understanding of food & wine pairings in concert. John managed the beverage program when Chef Cogley and team received their first Michelin star. His efforts have been published in Wine Enthusiast, Art Cullinaire, and the Somm Journal. He has also been involved in both Carmel Gourmet Festival as well as Pebble Beach Food & Wine Festival.
